I have read the bible, and I have re-read it many times trying to become a Christian again. The thing is, all of those books are just excuses for why such evils are in the bible to start with, and I got tired of making excuses for them and for this god.

There is nothing that can justify owning another human being as property. Slavery was, is, and always will be grossly immoral.

There is nothing that can justify killing entire races of people just for being different. Genocide was, is, and always will be grossly immoral.

There is nothing that can justify the killing or mistreatment of someone just for being gay. Homophobia was, is, and always will be immoral.

The bible passages that condone and mandate these terrible atrocities are not allegories, they are not misinterpreted. They are crystal clear and very specific, regardless of what version or translation that one is using.

Therefore this God has no problem with "his word" having such terrible things in it. There is not a single verse in the bible that can "put it into context" and justify it. Not one.

And if God is against such evil, then it is very telling that he is amazingly silent on the fact that his word has such evil in it. If someone stole your identity to the point of looking like you and talking like you, and began spewing such evil; I am sure that you would put a stop to it and publicaly denounce the impostor and their evil. And yet God doesn't do this. Therefore, he is either evil or does not exist (but thats a topic for another day).

For this reason, Christian Apologetics is the most dishonest and irresponsible profession that it is possible to have. Faith is not a path to truth, it is the excuse people make when they don't care about truth or the well being of others. Therefore faith is the most dishonest and irresponsible position it is possible to have.

I have read the bible, and it is crystal clear about the atrocities that it supports. Just as I don't get budgeting advice from congress, I don't get truth advice or moral advice from the bible.
